WELCOME TO MY BlOG! ツ

Hello everyone ツ
I am Ms. Yana, and currently I am following the course B.A (hons) in Early Childhood Education & Care at the University of Malta. I created this blog  so that I will be able to share with you photos showing some of the children’s work that they will be doing in class. Also, here I will promote some home school links where your child can freely continue or revise a task we may start at school, etc.

Christmas Cards

Today we made a Christmas Card for you ツ All the children worked enthusiastically in small groups. First, the children were asked to choose a colour for their card, either red or green. Then, with my assistance they cut out a triangle (Christmas tree) of the opposite colour. For e.g. if they chose the colour green for their card they cut out their Christmas tree from a red coloured cardboard. Then, they were given a variety of resources, including ribbons, sequins, pompoms, markers, and gems. They decorated their cards on their own and how they liked. Finally, with my assistance, each child wrote his|her name inside the card, using a very dark crayon.

Make a Snowman!

By clicking on the picture, you will be redirected to the website ‘Starfall’. This website is a child-friendly website which has delightful animated songs, mathematics, and reading activities for children from pre-k to 2nd grade. On the home page of this website one will find 4 categories on the left hand side of the page: ABCs, Learn to Read, It’s Fun to Read, I’m Reading. On the right hand side of the page one will find 3 more categories which are mathematics , reading and songs.  This website includes a variety of games for children to learn basic concepts: such as addition, subtraction, shapes numbers as well as letters and colours. Starfall is one of the websites which I tend to use a lot in the classroom.

Can you make a snowman?

On the table I placed four A4 coloured cardboard-one for each child, different shaped cut-outs, cotton wool, small pom poms, sticks, ribbons & gems. The cut-outs and the other resources were placed in different containers. The children were invited to build a snowman with the provided cut-outs. With my assistance, they used glue to stick the cut-outs on their cardboard. Then, they were invited to decorate their snowman with the resources and during the process, they were encouraged to be imaginative & creative. At the end, everyone was satisfied with their snowman.
