Make a Christmas Tree!
By clicking on the picture you will be redirected to the website abcya. Today, during free play, the children played a number of different Christmas games on this website. One of them was ‘Make a Christmas Tree’-the children had to click and drag the ornaments, decorations and gifts to decorate their Christmas tree. This website is specifically designed for young children. It allows users to browse through and play a wide range of educational games. These activities are centred towards fostering the children’s language, numeracy and problem-solving skills. Therefore, children are able to enhance their cognitive abilities while playing games.
Counting up to number 9
For this activity, I placed nine green coloured strips in front of one child. S|he was asked to place the strips in order starting from the number 1 and ending with the number 9. This process was repeated by every child, where s|he learned to count and memorise the numbers in order – from 1 to 9. After they placed the numbers in order, almost all the children recognised that a Christmas tree was formed.

Snowflake Match!
Snowflake Match game taught the children the concept of symmetry. First, they have to choose a half of a snowflake and then place it to the other half that matches it. They learned that symmetry is when you have a half and the other half looks exactly the same. By clicking on the picture you will be redirected to the website PBS KIDS. In this website you will be able to find this game and a wide variety of other educational games, including maths, science, etc.
